Panzerbataillon 393 and its MBTs belong to Panzergrenadierbrigade 37, which is stationed in Bad Frankenhausen, Germany. It provides the core of the VJTF 2023 and leads it. The battalion was formed in 1995 and has since been involved in various military operations, including peacekeeping missions in the Balkans and Afghanistan. Its primary equipment includes the Leopard 2A7V main battle tank, the Marder 1A3 infantry fighting vehicle, and the Dingo 2 armored vehicle.

The Leopard 2A7V is the most modern variant of the MBT in service with the German Army and Panzerbataillon 393 was the first unit to be equipped with it. Ths variant of the Leopard 2 series is considered to be one of the most powerful and modern tanks in the world. The tank has undergone a number of upgrades to its armor, mobility, firepower, and electronics systems to ensure that it is capable of handling the latest battlefield challenges.

The Leopard 2A7V has a crew of four: commander, gunner, loader, and driver. The tank is powered by a 1,500 horsepower diesel engine, which gives it a top speed of around 70 km/h on the road and 50 km/h off-road. The tank has a range of approximately 450 kilometers before it needs to be refueled.

The tank's armor is designed to protect against a variety of threats, including anti-tank rockets, mines, and improvised explosive devices. The Leopard 2A7V is equipped with a variety of sensors and cameras to help the crew navigate and identify targets on the battlefield. The tank is also equipped with a remote-controlled machine gun that can be operated by the commander from inside the tank.

The Leopard 2A7V's main weapon is a 120mm smoothbore cannon that is capable of firing a variety of rounds, including armor-piercing, high-explosive, and anti-personnel rounds. The tank also has a coaxial machine gun and a secondary machine gun for close-range defense.
