Citing information published by the Ukrainian website and Youtube account, American M270 mobile rocket/missile launcher systems would have been used to fire on positions of the Russian army in the Donetsk region.

On April 22, 2022, during an interview with Ukrainian Pravda, Victoria Nuland, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs mentioned that the United States has already started supplying multiple rocket launchers (MLRS) to Ukraine and is working with other NATO Allies to provide Ukraine with more of these systems.

Currently, two types of MLRS are in service with the U.S Army including the M270, which is based on a tracked chassis, and the M142 HIMARS which is based on a 6x6 chassis of the medium tactical vehicles (FMTV) all-wheel-drive 5t truck.

The American-made M270A1 and M142 HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) are able to fire a wide range of rockets and missiles. Both vehicles are designed to support joint early and forced entry expeditionary operations with high-volume destructive, suppressive, and counter-battery fires. Both vehicles can fire standard rockets at a maximum range of 45 km. With the extended range guided rocket GMLRS, it can reach a land target at a maximum range of 75 km and 300 km with a tactical missile.
