The Russian army continues to strengthen the deployment of tank units in Ukraine. According to open source information, approximately 1,000 Russian Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) would have been destroyed, damaged, or captured. To address this problem, Russia now deploys T-90S Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) designed for export.

In fact, the T-90S is an advanced version of the T-90 offering more firepower, mobility, and protection. The tank is in service with the Indian army since 2004. It was locally assembled and named in the Indian army "Bhishma". The T-90S is also in service with Algeria, Iraq, Turkmenistan, Uganda, and Vietnam.

The design of the T-90S is similar to the standard T-90 with the driver's compartment at the front of the hull, a two-man turret in the center, and the engine compartment at the rear. The tank is protected by both conventional steel plates and ERA (Explosive Reactive Armor). It is also fitted with the Shtora-1 defensive aids suite including an infrared jammer, a laser warning system with four laser warning receivers, a grenade discharging system that produces an aerosol screen, and a computerized control system.

The main armament of the T-90S consists of one 125mm 2A46M smoothbore gun that is stabilized in two axes and fitted with a thermal sleeve. The gun is able to fire a wide range of ammunition such as Armor Piercing Discarding Sabot (APDS), high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) and high-explosive fragmentation (HE-FRAG), as well as shrapnel projectiles with time fuses.

The T-90S is motorized with a liquid-cooled V-84MS four-stroke V-12 piston engine developing 840 hp. It can run at a maximum road speed of 60 km/h and 40 km/h in off-road conditions with a maximum cursing range of 550 km.
