Russia Strengthens Its Air Capabilities with New Delivery of Su-57 and Su-35S Fighters.

On November 7, 2024, United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), a subsidiary of Russia's state-owned Rostec Corporation, confirmed the delivery of a new batch of Su-57 and Su-35S aircraft to the Russian Aerospace Forces. These advanced fighters underwent rigorous testing, receiving technical approval from the Ministry of Defense personnel after completing various operational trials conducted by ministry pilots.

The Su-57, Russia’s flagship fifth-generation fighter, continues to stand out with its advanced combat capabilities. With a low radar signature and a state-of-the-art onboard defense system, the Su-57 demonstrates high survivability and adaptability across diverse combat conditions. "The Su-57 remains the only fifth-generation fighter that proves its superior capabilities in all combat scenarios. It is a powerful addition to our armed forces, benefiting from continuous improvements based on operational feedback," said Sergey Chemezov, CEO of Rostec. He also highlighted that the Su-57 would soon make its export debut at an aviation event in China, marking the aircraft’s first international showcase for potential foreign customers.

Similarly, the Su-35S, a 4++ generation fighter, complements Russia’s aerial capabilities, offering a multirole platform that combines agility, firepower, and endurance. UAC is committed to ensuring timely deliveries, with production schedules and testing processes advancing steadily to meet annual targets. “We are on track to deliver additional Su-57 and Su-35S fighters by the end of the year, maintaining our production pace and meeting the ministry’s demands,” noted UAC CEO Vadim Badekha.

The Sukhoi Su-57 is a fifth-generation stealth multirole fighter developed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau to meet the Russian Air Force's modern needs. Designed for versatile combat missions, this single-seat aircraft stands out for its stealth and advanced defense systems. It combines innovative design with impressive technical features, making its deployment particularly effective in hostile environments.

Armed with a 30 mm cannon and a wide array of missiles and guided bombs, the Su-57 can run various missions, ranging from air defense to strikes on ground and naval targets. Its N036 Byelka AESA radar and Himalayas electronic countermeasure suite provide optimal detection and protection. The 101KS Atoll electro-optical targeting system adds infrared tracking and laser countermeasure capabilities, further enhancing its survivability in combat.

Powered by two Saturn AL-41F1 engines with afterburners, the Su-57 reaches speeds of up to Mach 2. Its extended range, up to 4,500 km with external fuel tanks, and exceptional agility make it a key asset for Russian forces. This fighter combines power, advanced technology, and stealth to meet Russia’s strategic air defense needs.

The Sukhoi Su-35 is a fourth-generation multirole fighter that blends speed, maneuverability, and firepower. Entering service with the Russian Air Force in 2012, the Su-35 is an improved version of the Su-27, integrating advanced technologies for optimized performance in air combat. Its thrust-vectoring engine enables remarkable agility, enhancing its close-combat capabilities.

With a maximum weight of 35,800 kg, the Su-35 can carry significant fuel and weapon loads, making it suitable for long missions. Its performance includes a top speed of 2,500 km/h at high altitude, a service ceiling of 19,000 meters, and a climb rate of 18,000 meters per minute. These characteristics make it a formidable competitor among fighters of its class.

In flight, the Su-35 can cover up to 3,600 km at altitude, providing strategic range for air superiority and intervention missions. Its maneuverability, range, and power make it a pillar of Russian air defense, offering flexibility in planning and executing aerial operations.

This recent delivery underscores Russia’s commitment to strengthening its air defense infrastructure with sophisticated and advanced fighters, solidifying UAC's position as a major player in the Russian defense industry.
