On April 29, 2022, Moscow and St. Petersburg cities held nighttime Victory Day military parade rehearsals late as Russian forces continued their push to capture territory in eastern Ukraine.

Russia marks 77 years since the Soviet defeat of Nazi Germany on May 9 with a land and air forces military parade on the Red Square in Moscow, with the goal to show the military power of the Russian armed forces. Other military parades are also organized on the same day in several major cities of Russian territory.

The Kamaz-53949 Typhoon-K is a 4×4 mine-protected armored vehicle manufactured by Remdiesel, a subsidiary of KAMAZ. The design of the vehicle is standard of a 4x4 armored personnel carrier with the engine at the front, driver and commander seats in the middle, and troops compartment at the rear. The hull of the vehicle provides ballistic and mine protection STANAG 4569 Level against the firing of small arms 14.5mm armor-piercing ammunition and explosion blast of 8kg TNT explosion under the floor and 10kg TNT explosion under the wheels.

This version is fitted with a one-man open-top turret mounted on the roof of the troop's compartment armed with one Kord-12.7 mm heavy machine gun

The K-4386 Typhoon-VDV was developed and designed by the Russian Companies by JSC “Plant of special vehicles” and Kamaz. The vehicle is motorized with a KAMAZ 610.10-350 diesel engine developing 350 hp. It can run at a maximum road speed of 105 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 1,200 km.

The hull of the K-4386 is made with composite ceramic and steel armor that provides ballistic protection against the firing of small arms 14.5mm armor-piercing bullets all-around the vehicle and mine blast protection of 8 kg TNT explosion under the wheels. It has a monocoque structure with an integrated V-shaped armor hull that protects occupants by deflecting mine blasts under the vehicle.

The K-4386 Typhoon-VDV at Victory day military parade 2022 is fitted with the 32V01 RCWS (Remotely Controlled Weapon Station) armed with one 30 mm 2A42 automatic cannon, one 7.62 mm PKTM coaxial machinegun, and six smoke grenade launchers. The optoelectronic suite installed above the main gun includes day/night vision, infrared cameras, and a laser rangefinder.

Another version of the  KAMAZ-53949 Typhoon-K in 4x4 configuration fitted with 5ETs16U RCWS (Remotely Controlled Weapon Station)  armed with one 7.62mm machine gun.

The BMP-2M "Berezhok" is an upgraded version of the Soviet-made BMP-2 tracked armored IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) with the same two-man turret as the standard BMP-2 armed with a stabilized 30 mm cannon 2A42 and a 7.62 mm PKT coaxial machine gun mounted to the left of the main armament, but new weapons is mounted on the turret as a 30mm AG-17 automatic grenade launcher and four launchers of 9M133 Kornet series anti-tank guided missiles.

Compared to the baseline BMP-2, the Berezhok is equipped with a far better sensor suite. The turret has received an automatic target tracker and a ballistic computer. According to KBP, the module fires up to two missiles in salvo mode in order to score a higher hit probability.

The BMP-2M "Berezhok" keeps is based on the standard BMP-2 torsion bar suspension consisting of each side with six roadwheels with the drive sprocket at the front, an idler at the rear, and three track return rollers. The upper part of the suspension is protected by armor plates. The vehicle can carry a total of 9 military personnel including a driver, gunner, commander, and 6 infantrymen.

BMP-3 tracked armored IFV

The BMP-3 is a Russian-made tracked amphibious infantry fighting vehicle, successor to the BMP-1 and BMP-2, which entered service with the Soviet army in 1990 and made its first public appearance the same year. The main armament of the BMP-3 is one 100mm 2A70 semi-automatic rifled gun/missile launcher, which is stabilized in two axes and can fire either 3UOF HE-FRAG rounds or 3UBK10 anti-tank guided missiles.

The BMP-3 has a crew of three including a commander, gunner, and driver. A total of seven infantrymen can be carried, on either side of the driver with the remainder being seated to the sides and rear of the turret. The troop compartment is at the rear of the hull with entry via two doors in the hull rear opening left and right, with the left door having a firing port.

The Kurganets-25 is a new generation of tracked armored IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) developed by the Russian Defense industry, the first version was fitted with a turret armed with the 2A42 30mm automatic cannon. A 7.62mm coaxial PKT machine gun is mounted to the left side of the main armament.

The version showcased at Victory Day Military parade 2022 is fitted with the Epokha turret, a remotely controlled weapon station armed with one 30mm automatic cannon, one 7.62mm coaxial machine, and two launchers for Kornet anti-tank guided missiles mounted on each side of the turret.

Tornado-G 122mm MLRS

The Tornado-G MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System ) is an improved version of the standard Russian-made 122mm BM-21 rocket launcher system based on a Kamaz or Ural-4320 truck. The Tornado-G has been designed to be fully automatic. The operating crew has been reduced to three men compared to the six-man crew of the BM-21 Grad. Previously, the BM-21 could be loaded only from the rear and there was no automatic system: everything has to be done by the cabin crew.

The Tornado-G is based on the BM-21 Grad but equipped with a satellite guidance system. The weapons system is equipped with an automated laying and fire control system, along with autonomous satellite navigation and positioning system.

The BTR-82A is an 8×8 wheeled Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) vehicle manufactured by the Military Industrial Company of Russia. Production of the BTR-82A APCs for the Russian Army was started in September 2013 and entered into service in 2016.

As APC, the BTR-82A has a crew of three and can accommodate up to seven infantrymen seated at the rear of the hull. The firepower of the BTR-82A is increased by the use of a new unified fighting module with an electric drive armed with one 2A72 30mm cannon coupled with a 7.62 mm machine gun. The turret is fully stabilized on the two axes and fitted with new sights. The BTR-82 can fire on the move during day and night conditions.

The T-14 Armata is the newest Russian main battle tank. The T-14 Armata was unveiled for the first time to the public during the military parade in Moscow for Victory Day, May 9, 2015. The tank is equipped with an unmanned turret and all the crew is located at the front of the hull. The new unmanned remote turret of Arama T-14 would is armed with the new generation of 125mm 2A82-1M smoothbore gun with an automatic loader and 32 rounds ready to use. The main gun can fire also a new laser-guided missile with a range from 7 to 12 km.

The T-14 Armata is protected with a new ERA (Explosive Reactive Armour). It can be described as an innovative one. Its specifications exceed those of Contact-1, Contact-5, and Relict armor. According to Armata engineers, the new armor's resistance to armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot rounds (APFSDS) was significantly increased in comparison with the older ERA systems.

The T-14 Armata is equipped with the Active Protection System (APS) Afghanit which seems similar to the Israeli Trophy able to intercept and destroy incoming missiles and rockets. The system is designed to work against all types of anti-tank missiles and rockets, including handheld weapons such as rocket-propelled grenades.

The T-90M model 2017 also nicknamed Proryv-3 is an upgraded variant of the export version of the T-90MS Main Battle Tank (MBT) developed and designed by the Russian Company Uralvagonzavod. The T-90M Model 2017 is improved in terms of protection, mobility, and firepower.

The main armament of the T-90M Model 2017 Proryv-3 consists of one 125 mm 2A46M-4 smoothbore gun able to fire standard ammunition but also anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM) Refleks NATO Code AT-11 Sniper-B. The main 125 mm armament is stabilized and enables the T-90M to shoot on the move with a high probability of a first-round hit. The second armament includes one PKT 7.62mm coaxial machine mounted to the right of the main armament. at the rear of the commander hatch is mounted a remotely operated weapon station armed with an NSVT 12.7mm heavy machine gun.

The layout of the T-90M Model 2017 Proryv-3 is similar to all the families of Russian T-90 MBT with a driver at the front, a turret in the center, and the power pack at the rear. The T-90M features a new all-welded turret design protected by the Relikt ERA (Explosive Reactive Armour) armor fitted at the front and on each side of the turret. It features higher protection performance and serviceability compared with the Kontakt-5 ERA suite.

At the victory day parade 2022, the Russian army also displays the latest version of the T-72B3M main battle tank fitted with a new armor package. The T-72B3M is now the backbone of the Russian army offering more firepower, protection, mobility, and command controllability. The main armament of the T-72B3M is a 125mm 2A46M-5 smoothbore gun fitted with a light-alloy thermal sleeve and a bore evacuator.

Iskander-M Missile SS-26 Stone is a short-range tactical missile system developed and produced in Russia. The system replaces the Oka SS-23 SPIDER which had been terminated under the Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty. Development of the system was undertaken by the Kolomna Engineering Design Bureau development during the 1990s under the project name "Tender". The Iskander-M has a firing range of 400 km with a potential for extension to INF Treaty violating of 500 km.

The BTR-82AT is a modernized version of the BTR-82A 8x8 APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) vehicle that was unveiled in August 2021 by the Russian company Military-Industrial Company (VPK) at the Army-2021, defense exhibition in Moscow, Russia.

The BTR-82AT is fitted with a fully electrically powered remote weapon station armed with one 30mm automatic cannon with a 7.62 mm PKTM machine gun. To solve combat tasks against highly armored targets such as a tank or a heavy APC/IFV, the BTR-82AT provides for the deployment of portable PTRK Kornet-E missiles.

The BTR-82AT can carry up to 10 military personnel. It is powered by a Turbodiesel engine developing 300hp. It can run at a maximum road speed 80 km/h. The weight of the vehicle is 17,250 kg.

2S19M2 Msta-S

Entered in service in Russia's Armed Forces in 2013, the 2S19M2 152 mm self-propelled howitzer is an upgraded version of the 2S19 howitzer with enhanced performance characteristics and improved operational parameters.

The 2S19M2 is armed with the 2A64M2 152mm cannon and is equipped with a new automatic fire control system that increases the rate of fire up to 10 rpm. It includes automated unsighted gun laying and its restoration after each shooting. The "simultaneous fire attack" is a mode for simultaneous target hitting with several shells fired from one gun.

The 2S19M2 has a maximum firing range of 24.7 km with standard ammunition, 29 km with base bleed rounds, and 36 km with rocket-assisted rounds. The autoloader provides a maximum rate of fire of 7 to 8 rounds per minute.

TOR-M2

The Tor-M2 is an upgraded version of the Tor-M1 short-range air defense missile system. The TOR-M2/M2E is designed by the Russian Defense Company Almaz-Antey. The TOR-M2 was presented for the first time to the public during the Moscow Air Show, MAKS in 2007.

The TOR-M2 can fire missiles 9M331 and 9M332. The design of the missile round is similar conceptually to the much earlier 9K33 / SA-8 Gecko, but with some important differences, both employing a simple tubular airframe design with a solid rocket powerplant.

The Tor-M2 can simultaneously engage up to 48 processed targets and ten tracked targets. The TOR-M2 can engage a target at the range from 1,000 to 12,000 m and to an altitude from 10 to 10,000 m.

BUK-M3

The Buk-M3 also nicknamed Viking, medium-range surface-to-air missile system is a modernized version of the Buk-M2 system, features advanced electronic components and a deadly new missile, and could be regarded as a completely new system. The system is designed, developed, and manufactured by the Russian Defense Company Almaz-Antey.

The Buk-M3 Viking uses the new 9R31M missile radar-guided surface-to-air missile (SAM) with increased range and enhanced overall performance compared with the 9M38 used on the Buk-M1 and Buk-M2. The Buk-3M’s target-destruction probability has reached 0.9999 and its maximum destruction range has been increased by 25 kilometers and now stands at 70 kilometers. The Buk-M3 is able to destroy any type of air target from a range of 2.5 to 70 km, with a speed of 3,000 m/s at an altitude from 15 m to 35 km.

The Buk-M3 missile has been optimized for the interception of low-flying cruise missiles but can also engage ground and sea targets.

BTR-MDM

The BTR-MDM Rakushka is a further development of the BTR-MD airborne tracked multi-role armored vehicle. The BTR-MDM was unveiled for the first time during the 9th International Exhibition of Arms, Military Equipment and Ammunition Russian Arms Expo which was held from 25 - 28 September 2013 in the city of Nizhny Tagil, Russia.

The BTR-MDM is of all-welded aluminum construction providing the crew with protection from small arms fire and shell splinters. The crew consists of a commander, a driver, and 13 seats for military personnel.

The BTR-MDM Rakushka is equipped with a remote weapon station mounted to the top left side of the hull armed with a 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun. Another 7.62mm machine gun is mounted at the front right side of the hull. Two smoke grenade dischargers are mounted to each side at the front of the vehicle.

BMD-4M

The BMD-4M is the latest generation of Russian-made airborne armored infantry fighting vehicles that can be para-dropped to provide firepower and support for airborne troops. It is an upgraded variant of the BMD-4 (BMD-3M).

The BMD-4M is fitted with a two-man turret armed with a 2A70 100mm caliber gun, coupled to a 30mm 2A72 cannon and a 7.62mm PKT coaxial machine gun mounted to the right of the main armament. The 100mm gun uses an automatic loader with 34 rounds of 100mm ready to fire and 18 in reserve.

The crew of the BMD-4M consists of commander, gunner, driver, and six infantrymen. The driver is seated at the front of the hull and has a single-piece hatch cover. There is one more seat to each side of the driver position with one single hatch. The turret is mounted back of the driver position with the commander and gunner. Four infantrymen are seated to the immediate rear of the turret.

S-400

The S-400 Triumph is a long-range surface-to-air missile system produced by Almaz-Antey. The S-400 entered service with the Russian Armed Forces on April 28, 2007, replacing the S-300 air defense system. The possibility of using AD missiles with various effective ranges ensures the system modular capability that makes it possible to set up layered air defense and non-strategic anti-missile defense systems. The S-400 missile has a maximum range of 400 km and can hit all air targets with high accuracy.

Uran-9 armed UGV

The Uran-9 is a tracked unmanned combat ground vehicle (UCGV) developed and produced by JSC 766 UPTK (currently by Kalashnikov Concern). This robot is specially designed to deliver combined combat, reconnaissance and counter-terrorism units with remote reconnaissance and fire support. The Uran-9 can be used full autonomously on a predefined road or manually operated by one man from a truck control station or via a small backpack control station.

The Uran-9 can be armed with a 30mm Shipunov 2A72 automatic cannon, four ready-to-launch 9M120-1 Ataka (NATO reporting name: Spiral-2) anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM), six ready-to-launch Shmel-M reactive flamethrowers. and a 7.62mm Kalashnikov PKT/PKTM coaxial machine gun mounted to the left side of the main armament. The Uran-9 can be also armed with four Igla surface-to-air missiles. There are two Ataka missile launchers and three Shmel-M on each side of the turret.

RS-24 Yars ICBM

The Yars RS-24 Is a Russian-made mobile nuclear intercontinental ballistic missile that can be mounted on a truck carrier or deployed in silos. The first production of the Yars began in 2004. The layout of the vehicle is similar to the Topol-M SS-27. The missile RS-24 is a three-stage, solid propellant, MIRV-capable (Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicles) ICBM (InterContinental Ballistic Missile) with a range of 10,500 km.

The Yars RS-24 missile uses a guidance upgraded system of the inertial and Glonass system used in the RS-12M2 (Topol-M SS-27) missile. The accuracy is expected to be around 250 m CEP (Circular Error of Probability). RS-24 is expected to have a minimum range of 2,000 km, and a maximum range of 10,500 km. The RS-24 missile can be armed with up to 10 warheads.

The Tigr-M or GAZ-233114 (Here presented with the Arbalet-DM Remote Controlled Weapons Station ) is an improved version of the standard 4x4 light tactical vehicle Tigr GAZ-2330. The vehicle is produced by the Russian Defense Company Arzamas Machinery-Plant, a Military Industrial Company subsidiary. 

The layout of the Tigr-M GAZ-233114 is standard with the engine at the front, the crew seats in the middle, and the troop’s compartment at the rear. The hull of the Tigr-M GAZ-233114 provides protection against small-arms fire, shell fragments, and IED blasts. It can accommodate up to 10 military personnel. 

The Arbalet-DM is a remotely operated weapon station that is armed with a 12.7mm Kord machine gun. The turret is also equipped with a thermal imaging sighting camera with a range of detection and target recognition of at least 1500 meters.

The K17 also nicknamed Bumerang is a new development of an 8x8 armored vehicle personnel carrier launched by the Russian defense industry to replace the old BTR family used by the Russian armed forces. During the International exhibition of arms and military equipment RAE 2013 in Nizhny Tagil, the project of the vehicle was shown only to the Prime Minister of Russia.

The Bumerang can carry a total of 10 soldiers, including a driver, commander, gunner, and 7 infantrymen. The hull of the vehicle provides protection against the firing of small arms and shell splinters. In addition to this, Bumerang is also equipped with bolt-on ceramic armor which offers all-around protection against 14.5 mm, armor-piercing ammunition, and artillery fragments from 152 mm rounds.

The Bumerang K-17 is equipped with an electrically powered unmanned turret mounted in the center of the hull. The turret is armed with the 2A42 30mm automatic cannon. A 7.62mm coaxial PKT machine gun is mounted to the left side of the main armament. Two launchers of anti-tank guided missile Kornet-EM are mounted on each side of the turret.
