"The tests will take place on the Varandey Peninsula and will be carried out to improve the military hardware," he added." Bulgakov said.

A convoy of 14 vehicles will leave Bronnitsy in the Moscow Region on February 4 and complete its expedition on February 22.

The vehicles are expected to cover a distance of more than 6,000 kilometers (3,728 miles), considering their movement to the Arctic and back.

In particular, the Russian Defense Ministry will test the KAMAZ-43502 Patrul, the URAL-63706 Tornado-U, TREKOL-39294 and TREKOL-39295 vehicles, as well as army snow-going and other vehicles designed to operate in the Arctic, Bulgakov said.

New quickly-assembled inflatable shelters will be tested as well. Some research work will be conducted by the Defense Ministry’s Main Military and Medical Department.

"During the trials, we will make gauging, analyze the technical condition of the vehicles while using them at low temperatures and complex weather conditions and study maximum loads and capabilities of the military hardware," the deputy defense minister said.

"This is not the first expedition the Russian Defense Ministry will perform," Bulgakov said.

New military hardware was tested on the Rybachiy Peninsula in the Murmansk Region in north Russia last year.

As it was reported earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry accepted snow-going and all-terrain vehicles, which were tested during the trials.
