Goliath-RU Russian Unmanned Aerial System with Mini-UAV Presented for First Time at IDEX 2025.

At IDEX 2025, one of the most notable pieces of equipment at the defense technology stand is the Goliath-RU, an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) designed to perform real-time aerial reconnaissance missions. This system, which stands out for its compactness and advanced operational capabilities, is part of a broader trend where reconnaissance drones are becoming increasingly essential for modern armed forces.

The Goliath-RU is equipped with a mini-UAV capable of conducting surveillance missions at a maximum distance of 4000 meters, at an altitude of 250 meters. Thanks to its day and night camera system, it can capture and track targets in real time with great precision. This allows operators to obtain critical visual information on the ground, even in low-light conditions, enhancing the effectiveness of ground surveillance.

The Goliath-RU has specifications that make it a versatile tool for the armed forces. It weighs a total of 1200 g, with a payload capacity of 500 g, allowing it to carry high-definition cameras while remaining lightweight and easily transportable. The drone is launched vertically from a ground-based platform and can reach a maximum speed of 35 km/h. It offers a flight endurance of 40 minutes, making it suitable for extended reconnaissance missions.

The system is also designed for ease of deployment, with the UAV stored in a transport container. This container comes equipped with two cameras, one for daytime and one for nighttime use, providing full reconnaissance capability in various lighting conditions. A remote terminal allows the operator to control the drone, while the set also includes operational documentation and a spare parts kit to ensure system maintenance in the field.

One of the main advantages of the Goliath-RU is its ability to offer flexible and responsive reconnaissance. It can be used to monitor large areas or conduct targeted missions on ground objects, particularly during intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations. With a range of 4000 meters, it can provide aerial coverage for land or maritime units, offering greater security and improved tactical decision-making.

The Goliath-RU is particularly well-suited for operations where discretion and rapid intervention are critical. Its low-altitude flight capabilities and night camera make it an ideal solution for missions in urban environments or areas with reduced visibility, such as forests or mountainous regions.

The presentation of the Goliath-RU at IDEX 2025 highlights the evolution of reconnaissance drone systems, particularly those that combine light weight, efficiency, and flexibility. This mini-UAV, with its advanced technical features and ease of deployment, represents a significant advancement in the field of aerial surveillance. Armed forces will be able to leverage its versatility and ability to provide real-time critical information, seamlessly integrating it into larger-scale operations.
