The Farpad is a light reconnaissance drone designed and manufactured by the Iranian defense industry. This new UAV was used by commando and electronic warfare units to perform intelligence operation and counterterrorism operations by the Special Forces.
The Farpad is a drone in the category of small UAVs which is man-portable that can be carried and hand-launched by one soldier. It can landed safely through auto-piloting without the need for landing gear and prepared landing strips. The Farpad UAV weighs about 4 kg, has a flight endurance of 45 minutes and an effective operational radius of approximately 20 km. It is used in reconnaissance missions and is capable of either storing information or transferring data via online connection. According our first analysis of the Farpad images, the nose is fitted with a camera to capture imagery of the battlefield. The Farpad can be used as drone jammer using a portable electronic device used for deflecting the hostile flying objects. The Farpad UAV is powered by a single electric motor. After reconnaissance our jamming missions, the the Farpad can return to the base, using its autopilot. The Farpad UAV is operated by a remote video terminal which allows the operator to view and analyze the data. The Ground Control Unit of the Farpad UAV displays real-time videos and images captured by the drone's payload cameras. |
