New Russian Pantsir-SM air defense missile-gun system ready for 2019
Work to develop the new generation of anti-aircraft air defense missile/gun system Pantsir-SM will be completed in 2019, CEO of Russia’s High-Precision Systems Company Alexander Denisov told TASS at the Dubai Airshow 2017.

Several prototypes have been developed and are currently being tested, he added.
"We will complete the development of the Pantsyr-SM system in 2019 if I’m not mistaken. Several prototypes [of the Pantsyr-SM system] have been developed and are currently being tested," Denisov said.
Speaking about the system’s advanced high-speed surface-to-air missile, Denisov said that it would be good and compatible with the system’s previous versions.
"It is versatile, that’s why its trials are taking a lot of time. The Pantsyr-SM is an advanced system that will be superior to the Pantsyr-S1 version by 1.5-2 times," the CEO added.
The new Pantsir-SM is will be able to destroy aerial targets at a maximum range of 40km, twice more efficient that the current Pantsir-S1. The new radar will be able to detect targets a distance of 75 km. The weapon station seems to be fitted to a new 8x8 Kamaz truck chassis with armour cab at the front.
The Pantsir-SM will incorporate a multi-functional targeting radar station, increasing target detection range from 40 to 75 km and engagement range from 20 to 40 km.
