The development of the new DongFeng vehicle fitted with the 30mm cannon seems very similar to the Russian-made Typhoon-VDV K-4386 which is a 4x4 armored vehicle Typhoon K-4386 equipped with a Remote Weapon Station (RWS) armed with one 30mm 2A4 automatic cannon and one 7.62mm PKTM coaxial machine gun.

The Mengshi is a 4x4 armored vehicle developed and designed by the Chinese company DongFeng. The front of the crew compartment is fitted with a bulletproof windscreen to their front, which is covered by an armored shutter, hinged at the top, when the vehicle drives in combat areas. Two large doors are available on each side of the vehicle.

According to Chinese military sources, the all-welded steel armored hull of the DongFeng Mengshi provides the crew with protection against firing of small arms fire of 7.62mm caliber and artillery shell splinters.

The DongFeng Mengshi is powered by a GM 6.5 liter V8 turbo-charged diesel engine coupled to a 4-speed automatic transmission. It can run at a maximum road speed of 130 km/h.

The new DongFeng displays at Zhuhai AirShow 2021 seems to be equipped with a remotely operated weapon station armed with one 30mm automatic cannon allowing the gunner to remain in the relative protection of the vehicle. Ammunition box is located at the right of the turret.

The left side of the turret is fitted with optics that include a Color CCD camera and Infra-Red Cooled or Uncooled system with target tracking and image stabilization. We can assume that the turret is fully stabilized.
