Russian National Guard unveils Esaul armoured car at Interpolitex 2017



The Russian National Guard has unveiled the Esaul, a unique armored motor vehicle at the Interpolitex international exhibition in Moscow designed to escort employees in high-risk locations.

"The Esaul special armored motor vehicle is used to carry personnel, various cargoes in off-road conditions and on all types of roads, as well as for escort in high-risk locations where the use of small arms is possible. Light weapons can be mounted on it," Fedor Kovalev, an officer from the National Guard’s technical department, told TASS.

According to him, the vehicle is being tested. Earlier it was reported that UAZ armored cars will be fielded to the National Guard’s special purpose units in 2018.

The Esaul-394511 armored vehicle is based on UAZ Patriot vehicle. The UAZ Patriot (UAZ-3163) is a mid-size SUV produced by the UAZ division of SeverstalAvto in Ulyanovsk, Russia. It was introduced in 2005. It can accommodates five people and has a payload of 200 kg.
