The vehicle shows at "Arms and Security 2015", the defense fair in Ukraine has received the name of "Ovod".The vehicle presented for the first at this event was based on GAZ-66 chassis. The GAZ-66 is a Soviet and later Russian 4x4 a off-road light military truck produced by GAZ, but the armour kit can be dapted to other vehicles in a short time (from 30 minutes to several hours). The armour provides a protection for the crew against firing of small arms 7.62mm caliber and shell splinters. The front of the vehicle is dedicated for the crew with two seats, with one single hatch on the top of the compartment. The troops compartment is at the rear of the vehicle with one single door in the middle on each side. The roof of the vehicle is fitted with small weapon station which is armed with a 12.7mm heavy machine gun. Multifunctionality, the possibility of quick upgrade, maintainability and the possibility of large-scale production are the main advantages of this new project. According representative of the Company, SE “Zhytomyr armored plant” can produce more than 1,100 units per year. |
