Description |
Carat Defense, the internal security and peacekeeping division of Carat Security Group, designed and developed a new logisic platforms base on a standard light truck Unimog chassis in concert with governmental agencies for rapid deployment to customers around the world. The vehicle is nicknamed JACAM in the Belgian army. The Unimog SF vehicle enhance a complete lineup of defensive solutions ranging from armored truck cabins to Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and in-house ballistic glass production. Over 100 years of operational military experience from within the sales team and close working relationships with the customer base help ensure a close understanding of requirements and timelines. Rapid assessment of operational requirements resulted in significant time reductions during research & development of the design solution, leading to the timely production of both the Unimog SF vehicle. Carat Duchatelet used a standard Unimog 1350 chassis to create a new multi-role off-road tactical vehicle for Special Forces units.

Armament |
The JACAM Unimog Special Forces of Belgian Army is equipped with a circular ring mounted at the rear of the cabin crew, which can be armed with a 12.7 mm machine gun. At the front, the the seat commander is equipped with swing arm for 7.62 or 5.56 mm machine gun with buffered weapon mount. One more swing arm for 7.62 or 5.56 mm machine gun are mounted to each corner at the rear of the vehicle. Eight smoke-grenades discharger are mounted to the front of the engine compartment, another range of four smoke-grenades discharger are mounted to each side at the rear of the chassis.

Protection |
The roof of the standard Unimog cab is removed, and replaced by with a robust tubular roll over protection system integrated into the vehicle chassis. The rear part of the soldier's compartment is also equipped with an integrated tubular protection. The driver and the commander have a half door with without window. The front of the cab is equipped with two folding windshields, with bullet-proof windows.

Mobility |
The Belgian Special Forces Carat Logistic Platform JACAM vehicle is based on a standard light truck Unimog 1350 chassis. The vehicle is motorized with an OM 352 5.675 litre 6 cylinder in-line direct injection water-cooled diesel engine developing 130 hp at 2,800 rpm and 363 Nm torque at 1,800 rpm. The vehicle is also fitted with an enhanced suspension. The Carat Unimog Special Forces can run at a maximum road speed of 110 km/h with a standard range of 350 km.

Accessories |
The JACAM Special Forces Carat Unimog Logistic Platform is equipped with search light at the front, and military vehicle black-out system with IR. An electric winch is mounted at the front of the engine compartment. A spare wheel is fixed at the rear of the chassis. One additional fuel and water tank are fitted on the ground of the crew compartment, just back of the driver cab.
