Description |
The International MaxxPro Dash is a smaller, lighter and more mobile version of the basic version MaxxPro MRAP family designed and manufactured by Company Navistar International. On September 4, 2008 the U.S. Marine Corp. awarded Navistar a $752 million contract to develop and produce a lighter, smaller, and more mobile MaxxPro variant that is less prone to the rollover problems that have plagued MRAP vehicles. MaxxPro Dash has a smaller turning radius and higher torque to weight ratio. As it is designed to navigate through rough terrains, MaxxPro Dash is less prone to roll-over problems and is therefore suitable for deployment in Afghanistan. Production of the MaxxPro Dash will begin in October 2008 with delivery of 822 units to be completed by February 2009. The MaxxPro Dash is a mine-resistant ambush protected (MRAP) armoured personnel carrier.

Armament |
The MaxxPro Dash can be fitted with armored glass turret, armed with a 7.62 mm or 12.7 mm machine gun. The MaxxPro Dash is also ready to be equipped with a remote controlled weapon station armed with weapons up to 12.7mm caliber or an 40 mm automatic grenade launcher.
|
Protection |
The MaxxPro Dash is designed to endure improvised explosive device (IED) attacks and ambushes, MaxxPro can withstand ballistic arms fire and mine blasts. The MaxxPro Dash vehicle incorporates the design of a crew capsule with a V-shaped hull, which is mounted on the Navistar International model 7000 chassis. The purpose of the V-hull is to deflect the blast of either a land mine or an IED away from the vehicle. The incorporation of such a design has enabled MaxxPro to survive a 7kg (15lb) land mine blast without any injuries. MaxxPro Dash is designed to accept additional add-on armor as mission requirements warrant. The MaxxPro Plus is ready and capable against EFP (Explosively Formed Projectile) and RPG (rocket-propelled grenade) threats.
|
Propulsion |
The International Maxxpro is powered by the MaxxForce D family engine model D9.3I6 , Turbo inter-cooled, direct electronic injection and four stroke. MaxxForce six-cylinder direct injection turbocharged diesel MaxxForce D/D9.3I6 is coupled to a fully automatic power shift gearbox Allison 3200 with a total of five speeds forward and one in reverse. The MaxxPro Dash uses a 4 x 4 chassis with single-rear wheels.
|
Accessories |
The International MaxxPro Dash is equipped with a survival kit for nuclear, biological and chemical environments. A winch is mounted to the front of the vehicle. The International MaxxPro can ford to a maximum depth of 0,91 m without preparation.
