Design and Protection |
The SPM-3 Bear VPK-3924 boasts the unique differentiated spaced armour with anti-fragment inside layer. The hull and armoured windows can withstand the B-32 armour piercing bullets fired from the SVS Sniper Rifle at a distance of 100 m. The SPM3 Bear is also capable of withstanding the blast produced by a 6 kg HE device with the personnel inside being unharmed. The SPM-3 Bear uses V-shape, helping to effectively dissipate the energy of an explosion.
|
Propulsion |
The SPM-3 Bear VPK-3924 transmission makes uses of standard units and assemblies of the Ural Truck. It provides for increased reliability and service life (250,000 km, 800,000 – that of the engine). The SPM-3 owes its high cross-country mobility and smoothness of movement to the powerful YaMZ-7601 Diesel (330 hp) and independent torsion bar suspension incorporating wishbones with hydraulic shock absorbers (with 300 mm ride clearance) unified with that of the BTR-90 APC. This is the unique vehicle capable of negotiating any broken terrain under the hail of bullets.
