Armament |
At Eurosatory 2014, the CombatGuard was equipped with IMI's Bright Arrow combination active protection system (APS)/remote weapon station (RWS). The turret can be armed with a 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun. Bright Arrow comprises the functions of stabilized Remote Controlled Weapon Station and Hard Kill Active Protection System, all integrated on a single high performance pedestal. Bright Arrow is based on the proven IMI's Iron Fist active protection system. The Bright Arrow facilitates rapid detection, engagement and overmatch of threats typically encountered during military missions utilizing its sensors suit and remote fire capability. In case of attacks by an anti-tank threats, the system instantly engages the threat, employs soft or hard kill countermeasures and counter attack with its stabilized machine gun for immediate, effective and accurate counter fire. The turret is fitted with Day/Night panoramic vision with optional image processing capabilities.

Design and protection |
The CombatGuard is built based on a monocoque capsule which provides all around ballistic protection against firing of small arms AP (Armour Piercing) rounds, IED (Improvised Explosive Device) and EFP (Explosive Formed Projectile). Locating the wheels on the capsule’s sides also enhances the capsule’s protection. The vehicle can carry a total of 6 or 8 soldiers including driver and commander. Each side of the vehicle is equipped with two doors.
|
Mobility |
The CombatGuard is motorized with a 300 hp. Cobra Turbo Diesel engine mounted at the rear of the vehicle. The CombatGuard is able to reach a maximum road speed of 150 km/h and 120 km/h in off-road conditions with a maximum cruising range from 500 to 800 km. The vehicle has a ground clearance of 70 cm, can ford water obstacles up to 1.5 m and is able to negotiate gradients of 70%, a 35% side slope, and an approach/departure angle of 90°. Developed by IMI, Israel’s leading authority in combat mobility and Ido off-road Center, - a renowned Israeli design house for high mobility and off road wheeled platforms, the 4x4 wheeled vehicle is designed to negotiate extreme harsh terrain with agility, speed and lethality. |
Accessories |
The CombatGuard can also be equipped with IMI’s ’’Bright Arrow’’ - an active protection system integrated with the vehicle’s optional remote controlled weapon station. The vehicle is also equipped with blast seats to offer individual protection against land-mine and IED blasts.
