The International® MXT APC (Armoured Personnel Carrier) is a high-mobility vehicle with outstanding survivability and payload capability. The MXT APC is designed and manufactured by the American Company Navistar Defense. Designed and built to carry up to ten passengers, its body design supports a variety of mission needs including Military, Homeland Security, Border Patrol, and SWAT. The MXT APC, based on the proven MXT platform, provides 4x4 performance and superior protection from ballistics fire, mines and roadside bombs to help ensure the safety of personnel and cargo. In July 2012, Navistar Defense announced the delivery of the first MXT APC to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

Armament |
As armoured personnel carrier the MXT APC is compatible with multiple weapon systems, which can be mounted on the top of the crew or the troop's compartment.
|
Design and protection |
The layout of the MXT APC is conventional with the engine at the front, the crew cabin at the middle and the cargo or infantry soldier’s compartment at the rear. The vehicle is based on the International MXT platform light truck. The MXT APC provides the same level of protection that a vehicle from the MRAP category. MRAP vehicles usually have "V" shaped hulls to deflect away any explosive forces originating below the vehicle, thereby protecting the vehicle and its troop’s compartment. Typically these explosions are from land mines, but they can also be IEDs (Improvised Explosive Device). The hull of the MXT APC provides also a protection against small arms firing and shell splinters. The MXT APC has a payload capacity from 1,800 to 3,400 kg. The rear part of the troop's compartment is fitted with two large doors that allow the infantrymen to leave and enter the vehicle.
|
Mobility |
The MXT APC is designed with a rugged, light frame rail system for superior off-road mobility in rough terrain like Afghanistan. The vehicle is motorized with a MaxxForce®D6.0 V8 coupled to a 5-speed automatic transmission. The MaxxForce 6.0D is designed to power light-to-medium wheeled and tracked military vehicles. This hard working V-8 delivers up to 340 HP and 660 lb-ft of torque. The MXT APC can negotiate fording depth of 1.5m without preparation.
|
Accessories |
The MXT APC can be equipped with a full range of additional equipment as Infrared illumination, Semi-active shock absorbers, air assist doors, blackout lights / diamond logic electrical system, fire suppression system (optional), CTIS/Runflats (optional).
