The Nexter Systems 105 LG towed artillery canon is particularly well adapted to rapid intervention forces operating over difficult terrain. The gun is lightweight, very easy to use and is the ideal weapon for airlift, airdropping, helicopter or amphibious operations, with efficiency demonstrated during combat in Afghanistan. The Nexter 105 LG is now in service into four countries on three continents: Indonesia with 20 units ordered in 1994, Canada with 28 units ordered in 1994, Thailand with 24 units ordered in 1995, and Belgium with 14 units ordered in 1996. There is now, a new digital version of 105 LG called 105 LG Mk III. Canada recently placed a development contract in order to increase the canon's manoeuverability, the goal being to reduce deployment efforts when setting into firing configuration whilst conserving its firing stability. A country of South America has ordered 20 units in this new version in 2008.
