Design |
The JY-203 UAV system is a reconnaissance system based upon Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) sensor (Ku band), which is installed on UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), and also on broad range of other aircraft - turbo-prop, jet, or helicopter. JY-203 system can keep constant imaging resolution within entire effective detection area, and has certain penetration characteristics, under the influence of light, dust, smoke, fog, cloud and temperature. It is featured with large detection area, and long detection range.

Features |
The JY-203 is equipped with SAR ( Synthetic Aperture Radar) sensor. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image data provide information different from that of optical sensors operating in the visible and infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. SAR data consist of high-resolution reflected returns of radar-frequency energy from terrain that has been illuminated by a directed beam of pulses generated by the sensor. The radar returns from the terrain are mainly determined by the physical characteristics of the surface features (such as surface roughness, geometric structure, and orientation), the electrical characteristics (dielectric constant, moisture content, and conductivity), and the radar frequency of the sensor. By supplying its own source of illumination, the SAR sensor can acquire data day or night without regard to cloud cover.

Operations |
The JY-203 can provide information with on-board real time imaging and data storage. The JY-203 UAV is transported and launched by a 6 x 6 flat-bed truck. An accessorial rocket is used when taking-off. Landing by parachute. The JY-203 UAV is controlled by a digital flight control and management system, and is connected to the ground exploitation station through its intergrade radio system and advanced mission control system.
