One pilot, who witnesses said suffered minor injuries,
survived as he was ejected and parachuted out before the fighter jet
fell at 10:47 a.m. after finishing its performance, while another pilot
remained missing, said He Liang, a member of the convention's executive
committee, at a press conference held Friday afternoon. But CCTV said it
was a Xiaolong ("Fierce Dragon") fighter jet -- or FBC-1 --
which is the result of a joint Sino-Pakistani development programme
that started in 1999. Hungarian, Swedish, US and Lithuanian aerobatic teams have been invited to participate in the three-day show, which is expected to attract around 100,000 people, it added. |
