More than 102 new various planes will join Indonesian Air Forces in 2013.
 
Indonesian air forces commander Air Marshall Ida Bagus Putu Dunia said on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, that 102 new planes of various types would join the air forces' fleet this year. Speaking in a ceremony held at the air forces' headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Putu Dunia said that the air forces is one of the country's essential components highly expected to boost up 'bargaining power' in settling disputes with other country.

"As one of the country's defense components, Indonesian air forces continues to develop accordingly with national strategic developments," he said in his remarks in the ceremony.

He said that the new planes ready to serve the air forces' fleet this year consist of F-16 fighter jets, T-50 Super Tucano anti insurgent planes, CN-295 and C130 Hercules military cargo planes, Cougar Helicopters, KT-1 Woongbi trainer planes and Boeing 737-500.

Besides new planes, the air forces is also expecting deliveries of new radars to enforce its early detection warning system.

The Indonesian air forces commander said that addition of new planes in its fleet referred to the air forces' 2010-2014 strategic development plans.

Indonesia has allocated 16.7 billion U.S. dollars by 2015 to finance procurements of new armaments and military vehicles to modernize its military forces.
