Lockheed Martin lands a US$1.27 bn order from NAVAIR for 13 F-35 fighter aircraft
 
The US-based defense giant Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $1,271,800,000 contract to the previously awarded low-rate initial production Lot 11 advance acquisition contract, the US Department of Defense said on its website on Monday, May 2nd 2016.

This new contract provides for the delivery of 13 F-35 Lightning II aircraft. Six F-35Bs would go to the Marine Corps, three F-35As to the Air Force and four F-35Cs to the Navy.

Work will be performed in Fort Worth, Texas; El Segundo, California; Warton, United Kingdom, and is expected to be completed in December 2019.

The U.S. decided to build more than 2,300 F-35s over the next 40 years, replacing several aircraft programs across the military branches.
