Saab wins undisclosed order for AEW&C systems.

"The effectiveness of the underlying contract is subject to fulfilment of certain financial conditions," Saab said.

"The industry’s nature is such that due to circumstances concerning the product and customer, further information about the customer will not be announced," the Swedish company added.

In November 2015, United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed an approximately $1.27-billion contract with Saab to expand and enhance the Emirates' airborne surveillance capabilities. Under the terms of the agreement, Saab will deliver the newest iteration of its Erieye advanced early warning and control (AEW&C) radar system as part of a new product known as the airborne Swing Role Surveillance System (SRSS).

The legacy Erieye radar system uses active electronically scanned array (AESA) technology and provides 300 degree coverage and has an instrumental range of 450 km and detection range of 350 km in a dense hostile electronic warfare environment. The system employs a large aperture, dual-sided antenna array housed in a dorsal 'plank' fairing.
