Russia: Su-25SM fire armor-piercing shells at Kirgizia drills.

Su-25SM aircraft of the Russian Kant military base in Kirgizia fired armor-piercing projectiles at a tactical exercise in the mountains of Central Asia, the Central Military District said.

Five Su-25SM attack aircraft fired guns and successfully hit targets imitating adversary armor and delivered a bomb strike at adversary positions. The flights were carried out at a speed of 700-750 km/h and an altitude of 200-2500 meters," it said.

The Russian airbase is a part of the Rapid Reaction Collective Security Forces and ensures security of the airspace of the CSTO member-states. It is armed with Su-25SM and Mi-8 helicopters.

As a reminder, the Sukhoi Su-25 Grach (NATO reporting name: Frogfoot) is a single-seat, twin-engine jet aircraft developed in the Soviet Union by Sukhoi. It was designed to provide close air support for the Soviet Ground Forces.Upgrades of the Su-25SM version include a new navigation system, enhanced survivability, more accurate weapon delivery and other minor changes.
