"They [the upgrade requirements] have been formulated on the basis of the results in Syria. We are already working on the replacement of generators so that they can yield more power. The comprehensive works on Ka-52s and Mi-28s include modernizing optoelectronic systems, which is related to identifying and detecting targets," the chief executive said. The Russian Helicopters rotorcraft manufacturer already has a plan approved by Russia’s Defense Ministry on the upgrade of Ka-52 and Mi-28 gunships, he added.
The Ka-52 Alligator reconnaissance/attack helicopter is designed to destroy tanks, armored and non-armored vehicles, manpower, rotorcraft and other enemy aircraft on the frontline and in the tactical depth, in any weather conditions and at any time.
The Alligator is supplied with modern avionics while its coaxial rotor system and enhanced longitudinal control enable it to effectively maneuver and perform complex aerobatic operations. Besides, the Ka-52 features the radio-electronic protection system and low signature devices that reduce, dissipate and distort the engines’ thermal trace. It also has active countermeasures capabilities.
