Royal Jordanian Air Force receives first of 10 Bell 505 helicopters.
The Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) has taken delivery of the initial batch of Bell 505 helicopters from Bell Textron, with a total of 10 helicopters set to be delivered. The purchase agreement, inked in July 2022, encompasses not only the aircraft but also includes a flight training device and an extensive computer-based training package. These resources will be instrumental in supporting both basic and advanced rotorcraft flight training at the King Hussein Air College in Mafraq, Jordan.

Patrick Moulay, senior vice president of international commercial sales at Bell, expressed excitement about delivering the first Bell 505 helicopters to the RJAF and emphasized how these technologically advanced aircraft would enhance the operational readiness of the Armed Forces. Commander Mohammad F. Hiyasat of the RJAF expressed their satisfaction in receiving the initial Bell 505 aircraft, highlighting the significance of these deliveries for the growth and capabilities of the Royal Jordanian Air Force.
The RJAF is part of a growing list of military forces in the Middle East region choosing the Bell 505 as their preferred advanced military trainer. The UAE's Horizon International Flight Academy already operates 12 Bell 505s, while the Kingdom of Bahrain recently received three Bell 505 aircraft in early 2023. More than 30 Bell 505 helicopters are in operation across the Middle East and Africa. Furthermore, the Bell 505 serves as the military training helicopter for the Montenegro Air Force, the Republic of Korea Army, and the Republic of Korea Navy.
In November 2022, Bell Textron signed an agreement for the sale of 10 Bell 505 helicopters to the Royal Jordanian Air Force. The contract included the delivery of the aircraft with a flight training device (simulator) and a comprehensive computer-based training package to enable an enhanced approach to basic and advanced rotorcraft flight training at the King Hussein Air College in Mafraq, Jordan. "It is with profound gratitude to the Royal Jordanian Air Force that we share news of this agreement to purchase the Bell 505s as the new helicopter trainer for the Air Force," said Patrick Moulay.
The Bell 505 is a five-seat aircraft known for its reliability and efficiency, boasting the latest in technological advancements. It features a fully integrated Garmin G1000H NXi avionics suite and is powered by a Safran Arrius 2R engine equipped with a dual-channel FADEC system.
