Malloy Aeronautics is renowned for its expertise in designing and delivering all-electric unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for both civilian and military clients. Their lineup of unmanned quadcopters is capable of lifting payloads ranging from 68kg to 300kg, catering to short to medium-range missions. These platforms offer versatile capabilities at a fraction of the cost and time compared to traditional methods, while also reducing the risk to more valuable assets and human lives.
Malloy Aeronautics will continue its operations with its approximately 80-member strong workforce at its Berkshire location, serving its existing customer base. The collaboration between BAE Systems and Malloy, which commenced in 2021, will continue to advance existing UAS solutions and expedite the development of new and innovative technologies for global customers.
Simon Barnes, Group Managing Director of BAE Systems’ Air sector, emphasized that this acquisition aligns with their strategy of investing in groundbreaking technologies to enhance their capabilities and meet evolving customer demands in the field of unmanned aerial systems.
Oriol Badia, Chief Operating Officer at Malloy Aeronautics, expressed excitement about merging the strengths and vision of their innovative company with the support and reach of BAE Systems. This partnership will empower them to meet customer demands efficiently and introduce innovative products like the T-650 at an accelerated pace.
Engineers from BAE Systems and Malloy Aeronautics have been collaborating on the development of the T-650, an all-electric 'heavy lift' UAS with a 300kg payload capacity. This drone aims to provide a cost-effective, sustainable rapid response capability to military, security, and civilian customers.
In a significant development, the two companies jointly announced the successful demonstration of the T-600 electric unmanned demonstrator aircraft during a NATO exercise called REPMUS (Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping with Maritime Uncrewed Systems).
Malloy Aeronautics will become part of FalconWorks, BAE Systems' research and development division within the Air sector. Dave Holmes, Managing Director of FalconWorks, expressed excitement about the addition of Malloy's expertise and innovation to their portfolio, further solidifying their commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions to both existing and new customers.
