Russia delivers new batch of BMP-3 and BMP-2M Infantry Fighting Vehicles.

Kurganmashzavod, a Russian manufacturer, has delivered a new batch of BMP-3 and BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicles to the military ahead of schedule. According to the press service of the "High Precision Systems" holding company, the armored vehicles were transferred to the Russian armed forces. These new vehicles will no doubt be sent to the Ukrainian front to replace the many Russian loss, as Russia demonstrates its ability to maintain a large number of armored vehicles at the front.

The Kurgan machine-building plant has shipped a batch of new infantry fighting vehicles ahead of the planned schedule. These vehicles are equipped with the "Berezok" combat module. It is emphasized that all the equipment has been delivered ahead of time as the factory has concluded contracts with deadlines set for November of this year. Currently, Kurganmashzavod has produced 95% of the equipment volume manufactured in the previous year. The exact figures have not been disclosed by the press service. Russia is losing a lot of armored equipment on the front, but it is trying to maintain a strong strategy by replacing its losses with high production, such as the BMP-3, of which it has already lost 256, according to several OSINT sources.

The company has announced plans to increase armored vehicle production by an additional 30% in the second half of this year, as the factory's capacity allows. Currently, the factory staff works six days a week for 12 hours a day, while certain sectors maintain continuous production.

With armament including a 100 mm cannon, a 30 mm cannon, and three 7.62 mm machine guns, the BMP-3 is well-equipped for combat situations. Its advanced fire control system and night vision capabilities ensure precise targeting, even in low-light conditions. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with an NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) protection system.

The welded aluminum alloy construction of the BMP-3 provides effective protection against small arms calibers and shell fragments, enhancing the safety of its occupants. Weighing 18,700 kg, this armored vehicle offers a balance between mobility and defense.

The mobility of the BMP-3 allows it to reach speeds of up to 70 km/h on the road, while its amphibious capability enables it to move at 10 km/h in water, providing flexibility in various operational environments. This versatility is a key advantage, allowing for rapid deployment and excellent maneuverability on different terrains.

Capable of accommodating a crew of three and up to seven infantry soldiers, the BMP-3 can transport troops quickly and efficiently to the battlefield. Its dimensions, with a length of 7.14 m, a width of 3.23 m, and a height of 2.65 m, ensure a compact yet spacious interior capable of adapting to various mission requirements. With a range of 600 km, the BMP-3 demonstrates its endurance and ability to operate effectively over long distances, allowing for extended missions without frequent refueling.

In the world of armored vehicles, the BMP-2M has gained attention as an upgraded and enhanced version of the iconic BMP-2. The generic term "BMP-2M" encompasses various modernization configurations offering increased capabilities and improved performance.

One notable variant is the BMP-2M "Berezhok," developed by KBP. This modernized version features the B05Ya01 Berezhok turret, equipped with a 30 mm 2A42 automatic cannon, a coaxial 7.62 mm PKMT machine gun, and an AGS-30 grenade launcher. Additionally, it incorporates 2+2 launchers for the 9M133M "Kornet-M" anti-tank guided missile, providing enhanced anti-tank capabilities. The BMP-2M "Berezhok" is also equipped with new day/night sights, specifically the SOZh-TM sights found on the BMP-3, improving the vehicle's target acquisition and engagement capabilities.

The hull of the BMP-2M "Berezhok" is fitted with armored side skirts and a lattice (cage) armor, offering increased protection against anti-tank rockets and shaped charges. The upgraded version also benefits from an improved UTD-23 diesel engine with a power output of 400 horsepower, coupled with an automatic transmission for smoother operation. Furthermore, the suspension system has been enhanced for optimized performance and mobility.

It was previously reported that the BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle has proven its worth during military operations in the Western Military District, leading to a significant increase in demand. According to the press service of Kurganmashzavod, the manufacturer of these infantry fighting vehicles, the company delivered as many BMP-3 vehicles to the armed forces in the first quarter of this year as it did throughout the entire year of 2019.
