During IDEX 2025 in Abu Dhabi, Kalashnikov will unveil its new 7.62mm RPL-7 light machine gun, designed to target enemy personnel, light vehicles, and unarmored targets. This model uses 7.62mm cartridges, including the 1943 model, and can fire both regular steel-core rounds and tracer cartridges.
The design of the RPL-7 allows for the addition of various accessories, such as optical and night sights, target designators, flashlights, and other devices, making it highly versatile to adapt to operational needs. One of the key advantages of this machine gun is its ambidextrous capability, allowing operators to fire with either the left or right hand, thus enhancing its handling in combat situations.
The weapon comes with an essential set of components, including a low-noise shooting device (LSD), a removable bipod, a front grip, ammunition belts, and cartridge boxes. A carrying belt is also provided to facilitate transport and handling of the machine gun. This model is designed to meet the needs of support units and provide a reliable solution in various terrain and combat conditions.
With a sighting range of up to 800 meters, a weight of no more than 5.5 kg (without accessories), and a length of 1,100 mm in the firing position with the stock unfolded and fixed to the closest position to the receiver, the RPL-7 is a lightweight and maneuverable system. Its ammunition box can hold up to 80 rounds, offering continuous fire capacity for support operations.
The addition of the RPL-7 light machine gun to Kalashnikov’s arsenal reflects the company's ongoing efforts to meet the changing needs of modern armed forces. Designed to be versatile and effective against a variety of targets, this weapon is part of an approach to adapt to current combat environments, where mobility and rapid action are essential. With advanced customization capabilities, including the option to add sights or lighting devices, the RPL-7 positions itself as a valuable asset in support operations, particularly in contexts where flexibility and responsiveness are crucial. Moreover, its light weight and ambidextrous design allow soldiers to use it effectively in diverse conditions, while enhancing their mobility on the ground.
