Defence Electronics and Teledyne Brown Alliance Targets U.S. Unmanned
Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) Market.
2. PUMA: Green light for the German new infantry fighting vehicle; Rheinmetall
also awarded further contracts
1.)
Bremen/ Huntsville, Ala.(USA) Rheinmetall Defence Electronics
GmbH and Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc. and have formed
a groundbreaking alliance to market a family of unmanned
aerial vehicles (UAVs) to the U.S. government. Teledyne
Brown will adapt Rheinmetall’s proven UAV system to
provide the U.S. with reliable, superior and flexible UAV
systems designed for real-time reconnaissance and surveillance
as well as armed reconnaissance. Under the lead of Teledyne
Brown, Prospector is the premier system being developed
for the American market on the basis of the German UAV system
KZO. It is a multipurpose reconnaissance system that requires
no runway for launch, allows for changeable payloads in
the field and provides high precision navigation and targeting.
2.) The Budget Committee of the German Bundestag has just
given the go-ahead for the most important project of the
German land systems industry: the new Puma infantry fighting
vehicle. The Puma infantry fighting vehicle is a key project
for the German defence industry, a clear expression of its
technological superiority in this important domain. The
vehicle offers a degree of crew protection and system survivability
unrivalled anywhere in the world. No vehicle in its class
comes close to such excellent protection of the crew against
mines and rocket propelled grenades, the most serious threats
in crisis regions. Due to its newly developed 800 kW engine,
novel turret design and use of programmable ammunition,
the Puma sets an entirely new global standard in the world
of armoured vehicle design.
