Eurocopter and ATE have begun flight test firing a new Stand Alone Weapons System (SAWS) for light and medium helicopters. Eurocopter and its partner Advanced Technologies & Engineering (ATE) have begun flight test firing a new Stand Alone Weapons System (SAWS) for light and medium helicopters. The EC635 will participate to the flight test program is equipped with a heavy FN Herstal Machine gun HMP-400 cal. 12.7 mm and with the French canon Nexter NC-621 cal. 20 mm. The initial EC635 SAWS configuration for International Customers will also feature Denel's Ingwe Anti-Tank Missile. Integration of the missile is currently in its design and development phase at ATE's stateof the art facilities in Midrand. Future weapons to be integrated on these helicopters include missiles and guided rockets of various international suppliers.
