About FIDAE

On 1980, the International Air Fair (FIDA), the first aeronautic fair in the country, was inaugurated with the purpose to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Chilean Air Force. “El Bosque” Air Base was the chosen scene for this event, with the attendance of almost 115,000 people and 32 exhibiting companies from 13 countries. The unexpected success led to decide to repeat the event every two years; thus it became in one of the most important aeronautic salons of the region. In 1990, FIDA moved to “Los Cerrillos” Airdrome, and it changed its name into the International Air and Space Fair (FIDAE), due to in that period it was celebrated the “International Year of Space”; this event started to incorporate this field to the exhibition.

At thirty years of existence, this exhibition has demonstrated its leadership in Latin America and in the whole world, for its capacity in infrastructure and service quality provided by its staff.

The sixteenth edition of FIDAE will be in the framework of the Chilean Bicentennial and the 80th anniversary of the Chilean Air Force.

Field of FIDAE

Civil – Commercial Aviation: The commercial transport aviation activity for passengers and cargo, currently run by the small and big airline companies, takes part in an industry that it is in permanent growth, standing out the expansion of the offer in higher-capacity aircrafts. In FIDAE, the participating organizations may have the possibility to attend high level conferences, to strength the commercial ties with high executives from the civil-commercial aviation, such as airline managers and silent partners related to this industry, among others.

Defence: Field that gathers different people related to this area, such as Defence Ministers, Chief Commanders from military Institutions, Logistics Commanders, Armed Forces delegations from countries of the five continents and, in general, the defence community to witness the cutting-edge technology and innovations displayed by the exhibiting companies.

Homeland Security: This market provides a significant business opportunity, as it generates an annual investment over US$ 50,000 million. As nowadays, the security concept has been applied to different sectors like border control in the illegal immigration and drug trafficking aspects, emergency systems, command and control centres and security in airports, among others. Shortly, maritime, air space and border protection, creation of secure communication networks and the role of the space technology in this area will be represented in FIDAE by high-level exhibitors from different latitudes.

Aicraft Maintenance: The world’s aeronautics market has experimented growth in the last years, especially in the civil-commercial area. This represents a big business opportunity for companies that provide aircraft maintenance services. These services use cutting-edge technology and demand specialized labour. For that, FIDAE gathers the most important companies worldwide in this field to give assistance to the different people interested in this sector.

The Spanish Aerospace, Defence and Security industry may suffer a big increase in Latin America as a result of the investments originated in the last years. That it is noticed, after the signature of the Spanish Association of Defence, Aeronautics and Space (TEDAE) to be present for first time in the sixteenth edition of FIDAE.

The quantity of exhibitors from China that have confirmed their presence in the next edition of FIDAE has registered, up to this date, a notable increase of 90% regarding to our last version, exceeding even our own prospects. That was informed by the Organizing Committee of the Chilean exhibition, who seemed very satisfied about the increasing and they expressed that it is mainly the result of the good commercial relations between Asia and Chile.

The Russian Federal Space Agency, ROSCOSMOS, already confirmed that will exhibit in FIDAE 2010. This organization ratified their presence in the Chilean exhibition by contracting their space in the Pavilion D Nº 28.
