The Malaysian Company ADS will be in charge to supply the 155mm self-propelled howitzer CAESAR to the Malaysian for a total of 20 vehicles including the support and maintenance. The vehicle will be assembly in collaboration with the French Company Nexter Systems.

The Caesar (French designation: Camion Équipé d’un Système d’Artillerie) was designed and manufactured by the French Company Nexter Systems. The CAESAR is equipped with a 155mm, 52-calibre barrel and can maintain a firing rate of six to eight rounds a minute in sustained fire. The CAESAR is the latest generation of artillery system in service with the French Army.

The CAESAR howitzer was used for the first time in combat during the deployment of the French Army in Afghanistan. The vehicles were also deployed by the French Army for the military operation "Serval" in Mali.

The CAESAR is now also in service in Thailand, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. Recently, French Company Nexter Systems has submitted a final bid in India for 800 truck-mounted guns CAESAR in collaboration with Larsen & Toubro and Ashok Leyland, with the latter for the truck chassis.

The CAESAR offers enhanced fire power through quicker response, longer range and improved accuracy. It covers larger areas with fewer guns and favours initiative, manoeuvring and quick reaction time while minimizing risks.

The CAESAR is effective in each fire mission such as: direct support fire, in-depth action fire, counter-battery fire and even in coastal defence missions.

It fires all standard NATO 155-mm ammunition, including ordinary and rocket-assisted HE-FRAG rounds, cargo rounds with anti-tank or fragmentation bomblets, smoke and illumination projectiles. It is also capable of firing Bonus precision-guided anti-tank munitions.

The CAESAR has a maximum firing range of approximately 42 km using an Extended Range, Full Bore (ERFB) shell, and more than 50 km using rocket assisted shells. The system is integrated with a fully computerized system, providing an automatic control. The CAESAR can also be used for direct fire with a maximum range of 2,000 m.
