Diehl Defence, the corporate division of Diehl Group, has announced it will concentrate its vehicle business in a new subsidiary. Named Diehl Defence Land Systems, it will bring together the Industriewerke Saar, Freisen and Diehl Remscheid, according to a company statement.

Industriewerke Saar is a depot-level repair facility for wheeled and tracked vehicles of the German Army, as well as a European Service Center for the U.S. Army. The company repairs, maintains and overhauls U.S. tanks, trucks and vehicle components.

Diehl Remscheid manufactures different track types for tanks and armored vehicles. More than 100 tracks have been developed and manufactured by the company and are in use in the German Army and more than 60 countries.

The new subsidiary will continue its business activities in the areas of tracks for armored vehicles, as well as vehicle repair, but will also become involved with retrofitting and upgrading military vehicles on a global scale.

By concentrating all vehicle activities in one company, it wants to strengthen its market position, Diehl Defence said in its statement. Company spokesmen declined to comment.
