As many countries, Poland also started a program of future soldier (TYTAN) with new individual equipment and weapons. At MSPO 2011, BUMAR Group with the Company Fabryka Broni LUCZNIK – Radom and the Military University of Technology in Warsaw present a project of assault rifle, the MSBS (Modular Small Arms System) 5.56 mm calibre.

This new weapon is on the par with the most modern 5.56x45 calibre rifle solutions in the world. It is a part of the basic research within the TYTAN Future Soldier Program.

It is a modular rifle, i.e. a set of building blocks comprising of a common upper receiver and barrels of different lengths and contours, which assembled with different lower receivers and stock modules enable full user-level mission-adaptability of the rifle, including radical changes in configuration – up to and including choice between the classical “lock, stock and barrel” and bull-pup (butt-less) designs, which is a world’s premiere.

The Tier One of the MSAS would be the basic rifle in classical and bull-up configuration, combined with attached MSAS-specific 40 mm LV grenade launcher. Tier TWO would comprise the automatic carbine version as well as Designated Marksman rifle (DMR) and Light Support weapons (LSW) versions.
