"The military equipment covered by the contracts will be completely delivered, because we do not apply sanctions," Mr. Makarov said after the question of whether Russia would planned to deliver S-300 air defense systems to Syria.

The Russian-made surface-to-air missile S-300 is designed for protection of industrial and administrative sites, military bases and command post against air and space attacks. The S-300 is able to destroy ballistic and cruise missiles, and to shoot aircraft at a range of 150 km and altitude up to 27 km.

Between the years 2007 and 2011, Russia delivered several weapons systems to Syria, including Buk SA-17 SAM systems (8), SA-17 Grizzly missiles (160), K-300P Bastion P coastal defence system (2) and fighter aircraft Mig-29MT Fulcrum and MiG-31M Foxhound-B.
