Kazakhstan interested in Russia's Iskander-M missile system deliveries
Kazakhstan has filed a request concerning deliveries of Russian Iskander-M missile systems, Konstantin Biryulin, director of the Federal Service for Military Technological Cooperation, told journalists on Monday, August 11.

"There has been a request from Kazakhstan but no decisions have been made as of yet,” Biryulin told Russian news agency Itar-Tass, adding both sides are involved in a discussion.

Iskander-M (NATO reporting name SS-26 Stone) is a short-range tactical missile system developed and produced in Russia. This theatre missile system is designed to destroy a large number of differents targets, such as command posts, communications nodes air and missile defense systems, in operational depth and in any season when countered by heavy regular and precision-guided munitions, weapons, of mass destruction. All Iskander vehicles features cross-country wheeled chassis making them very mobile. The missile is solid-fuelled, single-staged with continuous guidance along the whole trajectory and has a range of 400km (248miles).
