The ABIMDE acts as a mediator between industries (225
associated companies) and government agencies seeking to promote the marketing,
development and quality of Brazilian products. According to the organization,
companies operating in the defense market generated approximately 25 000
direct jobs and 100 000 indirect jobs and move more than 3,700 million
dollars a year, of which 1,700 million from export.
These numbers could more than double in the next 20 years due to major projects announced by the Government. The expectation is that investments reach 120 bn dollars in the long run, of which 40 billion correspond to different programs already announced for the surveillance of maritime, air and land borders. In 2020, the sector is expected to generate about 48,000 new direct jobs and 190,000 indirect jobs. As for 2030, the ABIMDE's expectation, according to studies and research, is even better, reaching 60,000 new direct jobs and 240,000 indirect jobs. During the ABIMDE's anniversary celebrations, its president said: "We worked hard, year after year, to improve the defense market in Brazil, as well as the ability of the industrial sector, supporting industries operating in this segment. One actions to which the association has given special attention refers to the power of export business. This entity is in constant contact with government agencies to find solutions that extend the power of the export of these companies, because in this way the long-term planning is possible, it ensures greater safety in decision-making and increases the number of clients". |
