Photonis showcased its new high performance INTENS Image Intensifier at AAD 2014
Photonis showcased its latest night vision sensor innovation at Africa Aerospace & Defence exhibition (AAD 2014) which took place at Air Force Base Waterkloof in Centurion, South Africa, from September 17-21. The INTENS tube offers extended bandwidth sensitivity (from 400-1000 nm) and improved sensitivity to 100µlx (Night Level 6).

Picture taken during AAD 2014 through the INTENS equiped AN/PVS-14 Monocular Night Vision Device. The dark room is simulating 10 mlx equivalent to a quarter moon at night.

At AAD 2014, Photonis was demonstrating the capability of the INTENS in a black room. Army Recognition was able to experience the quality of this new night vision sensor which was unveiled for the first time at Eurosatory this year: No matter the level of darkness simulated (from full moon night to moon-less overcast night) the INTENS tube provided excellent image quality thanks to its superior resolution and low noise level.

At AAD 2014, Photonis was demonstrating its latest technology thanks to an AN/PVS-14 Monocular Night Vision Device fitted with the INTENS tube.

According to Photonis, the new INTENS tube provides a 40% increase in detection, recognition, and identification (DRI) over previous tubes. INTENS is a unique intensifier well-suited for Multi-Mission Night Vision; ideal for use in the darkest mission conditions including deep mountain valleys and jungle terrain.

Detection, recognition and identification of objects and persons in a hostile environment are essential to all deployed forces. Already field proven, INTENS offers end-users access to a superior performance Image Intensifier Tube that is an easily deployed solution for operations in extreme darkness. INTENS comes standard equipped with a state-of-the-art Auto-Gating power supply for operations in very dynamic light conditions and a high contrast green P22 phosphor. Like other PHOTONIS Image Intensifiers, the INTENS is mission ready for integration into equipment of the world’s leading suppliers of optical systems.
