Stylianos Kanavakis The Royal Jordanian Army Special Operations Command is exhibiting at SOFEX 2014 one of its MRAP vehicles acquired as excessive material from the US and entered into service in 2013.. |

The MRAP showcased at SOFEX was a GDLS Cougar, which had been upgraded by the US DoD under a 2009 contract, with the TAK-4 suspension made by Oshkosh. |

Since the drawdown of the US Forces from the operations
in Afghanistan, a large inventory of MRAP vehicles has been made available
to possible customers, as it was expensive to return it to the mainland
US. Jordan has profited from this opportunity by acquiring battlefield
proved Cougar and MaxxPro MRAPS thus, increasing the protection and
fighting capability of its special operations forces. The MRAP showcased at SOFEX was a GDLS Cougar, which had been upgraded by the US DoD under a 2009 contract, with the TAK-4 suspension made by Oshkosh. The vehicle can carry up to nine soldiers, while providing cover with its 12.7mm heavy machine gun. |
