Many countries have a large stock of older towed howitzers which are not efficiently covering not only the needs of high speed mechanized and armoured forces but of the special operations too. KADDB has been among the few companies worldwide to be addressing this kind of necessity by developing the Self-Propelled 105 Gun.
The engineers of KADDB integrated the M102 towed howitzer on a DAF 4x4 truck. The howitzer can be elevated from -5 to +75 degrees with the use of a hydraulic mechanism with a manual backup. The vehicle is stabilized by retractable electrohydraulic outriggers. This further leads to the system’s «shoot & scoot» capability, meaning that it can deploy and fire quickly, before leaving for another place thus, avoiding the counter-artillery shots. |

For its close protection the vehicle can be equipped with a 7.62 machine or 12.7 mm heavy machine gun. Furthermore, right behind the cabin the users have 36 rounds stored in a special compartment and ready for use.
As the company’s officials have informed us, the first firing tests took place on the 24th of April and the results had been considered good, leading to further development. Army Recognition has been informed that the new things to be integrated in the short-run. The most important is a navigation system for the firing computer by Selex ES, which will simplify the firing resolution process and will eliminate the time needed for effective firing (a mockup of the computer was installed on the vehicle – as seen on the picture). The second is the addition of a cover above the deck providing cover to the crew from the natural elements.
