Eurosatory 2016: Eurenco presents new propellants for 120mm tank ammunition

|
Eurenco is developing new propellants for 120mm tank ammunition to answer customers’ needs for alternative and innovative solutions, the French company announced during Eurosatory 2016. Two new multi-perforated propellants have been developed on company funds for 120mm kinetic energy (APFSDS) and High Explosive (HE) rounds.

First tests have been successfully conducted with a leading European ammunition manufacturer. Industrialization is set to begin after a first serial production contract has been secured in 2016. The addition of the two large calibre propellants into the company range of products allow Eurenco to be the only one in Europe to offer a complete range of energetic materials for Tank ammunition including explosives, combustible cartridge cases and propellants.
Eurenco’s current propellants for 120mm tank ammunition will be completed later by nextgeneration enhanced performance large calibre propellants being developed by its R&D department. The objective is to provide enhanced performances, such as low erosivity, high impetus, low temperature coefficient, thanks to innovative technologies. Eurenco is the European leader in Energetic Materials with a complete range of Explosives, Propellants and Combustible items for Defense, Security and Civil markets: - Combustible items: Modular charges for 155mm artillery systems, Combustible Cartridge Cases (CCCs) for tank ammunition, Nitrofilm for Mortar increments, - High Explosives (e.g. RDX, HMX, NTO) and propellants (single, double or multi base) for Warheads, Medium & Large calibre ammunition including missiles, bombs, rockets, underwater weapons and 25mm to 155mm rounds, - Small calibre: propellants for Defense / Security and Hunting / Sport (from .22 to 20mm). Eurenco is a truly global company with 4 production plants in France (Bergerac, Sorgues), Belgium (Clermont) and Sweden (Karlskoga).
