Raytheon Company has been awarded a contract for the refurbishment of the US Marine Corps’ vehicles. The contract is valued at USD249 million, covering five years of work on the Secondary Reparable (SECREP) programme. Through SECREP the Marine Corps will have vehicle parts, such as engines, transmissions and electronics refurbished, instead of buying brand new parts.

SECREP and other similar programmes carried out by Raytheon Corporation have helped the USMC to save funds, which could then be reinvested to other projects. This contract is for almost 1,000 different items. Service is implemented through a network, which includes OEMs, military depots and small business suppliers.

Dave Wajsgras, President of Raytheon’s Intelligence, Information and Services, stressed on the company’s capability to maximize the readiness of warfighters around the world.

Todd Probert, VP of Mission Support and Modernization at Raytheon IIS, focused on the company’s proven, low-risk sustainment partnership of choice as military procurement shifts towards maintaining and adding new capabilities to existing platforms and equipment, rather than acquiring new ones.
