The United Instrument-Manufacturing Corporation, part of Russia’s state hi-tech corporation Rostec, will start producing upgraded R-168-25U digital radio stations in 2016, the corporation’s press office said on Friday. The upgraded R-168-25U digital radio station will allow transmitting data eight times faster, the press office added.
"The new radio station will boost the maximum data transmission speed and considerably expedite command and control during combat operations," the press office said. "The radio station is designed to be mounted on mobile wheeled or tracked vehicles used to ensure the operation of various systems of troop control," the press office added. According to the press office, the radio station incorporates advanced communications technologies. "In particular, the radio station has a lower weight and better communications characteristics as it is based on a modern SDR [software-defined radio system] platform," the press office said. "Unlike its predecessors, the R-168-25U radio station has an increased maximum data transmission speed and can transmit commands and other information eight times faster within command and control networks," the press office added. As Deputy CEO of the United Instrument-Manufacturing Corporation Sergei Skokov said, the upgraded radio station will be able to provide enhanced protection from electronic warfare and reconnaissance systems. |
