BTR-4 8x8 APC armored personnel carrier from Ukraine tested by Marine Corps of Indonesia.
Marine Corps of Indonesia armed forces has tested the new Ukrainian-made BTR-4 8x8 armoured vehicle personnel carrier (APC) in mountain conditions, at the same time trials were performed on the sea to test the amphibious capabilities of the vehicle.

Five Ukrainian-made BTR-4 APCs were delivered to Marines Corps of Indonesia as a part of the contract signed in 2014 by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense . the BTR-4 APC will replace the old Soviet-made BTR-50PK delivered by Ukraine in the 1990s.
 
 

The BTR-4 for the Indonesian Marine Corps are delivered in two variants, on fitted with a remotely operated weapon station armed with a 7.62mm machine and one fitted with a ZTM-1 30mm cannon as main armament coupled to one AGS-17 30mm automatic grenade launcher.

The BTR-4 is manufactured by the Ukrainian Company Kharkov Morozov Machine Building Plant. The first prototype of the vehicle was unveiled in 2006, with the production that began in 2008.

The design of the BTR-4 is very similar to the Russian wheeled BTR family with the driver and commander at the front, the engine in the middle and the troops compartment at the rear.

The basic version featuring ballistic protection against medium-caliber firearms weighs 17.5 tons. One version, can also be fitted with add-on amour, with this feature, the BTR-4 providing the highest level of protection, weights around 25-ton.
