The gear included a 50mm caliber sniper rifle dubbed ‘Heidar’, a mine-laying vehicle, a trailer for carrying personnel carriers, and a tactical vehicle equipped with cannon. Heidar sniper rifle weighs 17.5 kg with magazine and all accessories, has a length of 135cm, and fires on targets at a maximum range of 3,000 meters. The minelayer, named Heidar-5, is a vehicle capable of launching landmines in motion. It can also throw Mersad-2 anti-vehicle mines. The trailer, weighing 18,000 kg, runs on 12 wheels and can carry two Suleiman-1 personnel carriers.
The other product unveiled in the ceremony was Heidar-6 tactical military vehicle, equipped with a 73mm gun. Bullets fired from the cannon can pierce the target up to 30cm. The vehicle is also furnished with an anti-tank guided missile system. Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere. Iran maintains that its military might poses no threat to the regional countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence. |
