New Chinese-made IFV infantry fighting vehicle shows on online forum.
A picture released February 8, 2017, on Chinese online forum shows a new generation of Chinese-made tracked infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) fitted with a new combat turret armed with a 30mm or 40mm automatic cannon. It could be the successor of the ZBD-04 and ZBD-04A in service with the Chinese armed forces (PLA People's Liberation Army).

The new Chinese IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) uses a tracked chassis similar to the ZBD-04 and ZBD-04A with six wheels.

According our first analysis, this new Chinese-made IFV seems to be armed with a 30mm or 40mm automatic cannon, compared to the ZBD-04's turret which is armed with a 100 mm rifled main gun and a 30 mm cannon.

The layout of the vehicle shows that the engine is located at the front of the vehicle and the turret is fitted at the rear of the hull.

In November 2016, at Zhuhai Airshow NORINCO revealed that it had developed and tested a 40 mm case telescoped weapon system (CTWS) and its initial suite of ammunition. An 8x8 wheeled armoured vehicle was fitted with a remotely operated weapon station armed with a 40mm case telescoped weapon system.

At Zhuhai Airshow, Chinese Defense Company NORINCO has presented the CS/AA5, a new Multi-Purpose Assault Gun vehicle based on an 8x8 armoured chassis fitted with a remote weapon station armed with one 40mm case telescoped weapon system.

The 40mm cannon can fire a full range of ammunition including 40 mm high-explosive (HE) and armour-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS) rounds.
