Russia to station extra S-400 air defense missile systems in Crimea
Extra S-400 Triumf (NATO reporting name: SA-21 Growler) air defense missile systems will be stationed in Crimea, Commander of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Army Lieutenant-General Viktor Sevastyanov said in an interview with RIA Novosti news agency.

"There are such plans but I will not specify the timeframe now," Sevastyanov said.

According to him, both S-300 (SA-10 Grumble) and S-400 air defense missile systems will be stationed in Crimea.

"The S-400 system will have an advantage as this is a more advanced and digital complex," Sevastyanov said.

The 18th Guards Air Defense Missile Regiment received the advanced S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile system in 2016.

The regiment learnt to operate the advanced system and then practiced launching missiles during the Kavkaz-2016 command and staff exercise in August 2016.
