The Slovak Ministry of Defense estimates the cost to purchase the 8x8 armoured vehicles around €417 million and €783 million for the 4x4 vehicles.
On 29 March 2004, Slovak became, alongside Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Slovenia, a member of NATO alliance. For the past 13 years, thousands of Slovak soldiers have rotated in and out of the international crisis management operations conducted under the umbrella of NATO. In February 2017 during a NATO meeting in Brussels, the Slovak (SVK) Minister of Defense underlined that in light of the security reality it is inevitable to be equipped with state-of-the-art military equipment according to NATO standard. He informed his colleagues of Slovakia having allocated considerable funding for modernization and deliveries of military assets, and that this year alone the defense budget in the SVK REP has risen by 12 per cent. In January 2008, BAE Systems has delivered RG-32M 4x4 armoured vehicles with with MOKYS communications and information systems technologies to the Slovak Armed Forces. It was the last acquisition of armored vehicles by the Slovak Army. |
