"Russia is a traditionally important partner of Sudan in military matters. We are interested in many of its products and Russia also helps the Sudanese defense industry. So we have a lot of issues to discuss," he said.

The minister advised to refer questions on specific arms contracts to the military. "There is no secret. If something is planned (for signing during the visit to Russia by Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir expected by the end of the year) the information will be made public," he said.

Bakheet said the fight against terrorism is another important issue of cooperation with Moscow. "Regional and international cooperation is the only way to fight terrorism. Sudan is actively engaged in the process. Not only information exchange is important but also the understanding of what is really happening on the Earth and the common understanding of the phenomenon," he said.

"Terrorism developed into a major problem. But what is terrorism? What do we mean by the word, who is to be considered terrorist? It is important to reach a common understanding who can be defined as terrorist and who is not," the minister said.
